WINDOWS EDGE FOR GAMERS
PRODUCT FEATURE
Imagine that Edge browser becomes the starting point for Gamers in their Gaming Journey? Take a quick look at the demo we showcased during Xbox WNFG (What's Next for Gaming) event this year, about this exciting gaming feature which connects the core gamers to the games, news, and communities they care about.
Mission
Our goal is to provide gamers with a hyper value-focused start page that connects them to the exciting contents they care about. The first step is to attract gamers to Edge and grow that audience by experimenting both on the content that will have the highest engagement and the most effective ways to monetize, without cannibalizing existing content consumption from other users.
This experience will also serve to upsell Game Pass and the Xbox ecosystem, driving increased revenue across the company.

The Journey
This new welcome page on Edge is mostly consisted by a gaming-centric feed with different types of engaging contents, our main focus was trying to:
-
Reutilize what the Edge new tab page framework provides, also develop new sets of gaming centric data displays and cards.
-
Personalized experience for gamer users to see and follow the content/creators they are interested in.
Some of the module ideations we had done in the past:
Meanwhile we launched a user survey towards core gamer audience to better understand user perceptions of this feed experience as well as particular features and aspects about it, e.g., personalization, Xbox gaming etc. Some key takeaways summarized as below:
After reviewing the survey results with the team, we filtered and nailed down the first batch of content types we'd like to experiment with on the feed and started iterating and polishing the UI and interactions.
